Taiwan´s most powerful earthquake since records began has struck the south western coast, triggering a huge tsunami.
Everything has been swept away by a massive wave after the 9 – magnitude tremor. The cities of Kaoshiung and Tanian, who have a total population of over 4.5 million people, have declared a state of emergency.
The Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant´s pressure has exceeded normal levels since the cooling system has stopped working. Intending to avoid another Fukushima incident, thousands of people living near the nuclear power plant have been ordered to evacuate.
There are at least 600 confirmed dead people, around 700 hundred in critical conditions and around a thousand people missing.
